Try-catch не ловит исключения - C#

Формулировка задачи:

             try
            {
                ftpClient.directoryListSimple("test");
 
            }
            catch
            {
                ftpClient.createDirectory("test");
            }

По плану, если папки с именем test нет на FTP, то сервер FTP возвращает ошибку 550, и создается папка с именем test пошагово проверял программу, ошибка есть, но компилятор пропускает блок catch. В чем же ошибка?
